Meet the Team: Sean Makar, Originations Associate

Sean manages a diverse range of clients, guiding them through onboarding, helping them widen their available financing, and ensuring they have access to the capital they need to grow. With a focus on relationship building and delivering seamless client experiences, Sean plays a key role in helping businesses scale with confidence as an Originations Associate.

Sean first joined Raistone as an intern while completing his MBA at Mercy University, following his undergraduate studies in economics at Binghamton University. Encouraged by professors and alumni connections, he was introduced to Raistone through fellow Mercy graduates on the company’s Sales team. The decision to stay full-time after his internship was an easy one.

“What really stood out was the people,” he recalled. “Everyone was willing to lend a helping hand, and the culture made it clear this was the right place to get my start in the industry.”

Sean credits his MBA courses, particularly those focused on analyzing financial statements, with preparing him for the fast-paced, detail-oriented working capital programs at Raistone. His focus is on Accounts Receivable Finance (ARF) deals, which help businesses of all sizes accelerate payment of money due to them.

While the Risk team conducts deep dives, Sean’s role requires quick, upfront assessments that set the stage for smoother processes and stronger client relationships.

Since joining the team full-time, Sean has grown into broader responsibilities, including supporting campaign creation and working closely with Kellen Bates, Vice President of Originations.

“It’s been rewarding to see how our dynamic has evolved,” he said. “We communicate daily, share ideas, and balance a workload that previously was handled by a much larger team.”

For Sean, the most gratifying moments come from hearing how his work translates into real business results. Whether it’s helping a company secure the capital to take on larger projects or giving finance teams more breathing room to focus on growth, client success stories reaffirm the impact of what he does.

“Helping people get the financing they need to grow and hearing the positive results firsthand is the best part of what I do,” he said.

Sean continues to build on his early success, excited about the future opportunities ahead, whether reeling in large new clients or supporting smaller companies eager to grow but constrained by their balance sheets.

“I’m always looking forward to that next conversation,” he said. “Every business has a story, and I enjoy being part of the solution that helps them write the next chapter.”

Outside of work, Sean stays active through pickup sports, trips to the gym, and a passion for live events. He’s often on the lookout for the next concert, play, or game to attend. A proud New Yorker, Sean follows the Mets and Islanders, though he acknowledged that loyalty often comes with its share of heartbreak.

His music taste is broad, spanning 80s rock and modern country, and his concert experiences range from Def Leppard and The Beach Boys to Jason Aldean and Machine Gun Kelly. He’s also a Broadway fan, noting that he enjoyed Wicked on Broadway and The Lion King is next on his list.
